Boots Pharmacy

Changes to Guy’s Hospital and St Thomas’ Hospital pharmacy services

The Guy’s Hospital and St Thomas’ Hospital contract with Lloyds Pharmacy will finish at the end of May 2024 and the service will transfer to Boots.

Guy’s Hospital and St Thomas’ Hospital outpatient pharmacies

Boots will run the outpatient pharmacies at Guy’s Hospital and St Thomas’ Hospital.

Harrison Wing outpatient pharmacy closure

The outpatient pharmacy at Harrison Wing, Guy’s Hospital will permanently close from Thursday 30 May 2024 at 6pm.

Outstanding prescriptions

If you have an outstanding prescription, please try to collect your medicines by 6pm on Thursday 30 May 2024.

If you need medicines on Friday 31 May 2024, you will be able to collect them from the main hospital outpatient pharmacy (ground floor, Southwark Wing, Guy’s Hospital) until 4pm.

New Boots outpatient pharmacy

The new Boots outpatient pharmacy on the ground floor, Southwark Wing, Guy’s Hospital will then open from 8am on Monday 3 June 2024. Please use this pharmacy to collect your medicines from Monday 3 June 2024.

More details

  • The Boots main pharmacy will be open longer and more convenient hours than the Harrison Wing pharmacy. It will open 8am to 8pm on weekdays, and 9am to 6pm on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays
  • Under the new service with Boots, you should get your medicines within 20 minutes
  • More seats will be installed in Atrium 1 next to the outpatient pharmacy, to provide a spacious and comfortable place to wait
  • The pharmacy staff will respect and honour your confidentiality at all times

Medicines delivery

In addition to the outpatient hospital pharmacy, Boots will also run a new pharmacy and distribution hub for our patients.

It will include a medicine delivery service which will be available for some patients – for example, if you have virtual consultations, or if there are other reasons which mean collection from our hospital pharmacies is not appropriate.

If you meet the criteria (including if you have a virtual consultation or if there are other reasons which mean collection from our hospital pharmacies is not appropriate) you may be able to have your medicines delivered to your home, or to some local Boots pharmacies. Your healthcare staff will tell you if you are eligible for this delivery service.
