Richard Bright pioneered kidney research at Guy’s Hospital in the 1800s and in the 1960s Professor Stewart Cameron set up Guy’s renal unit and defined the many types of kidney inflammation called ‘glomerulonephritis’. Research continues to be carried out at Guy’s for the benefit of kidney patients throughout the world. The treatment you receive today will be as a result of past and current research.
The Medical Research Council’s Centre for Transplantation is based at Guy’s and leads the UK in transplantation research. Successful clinical research depends on patients working together with researchers and the KPA are proud to support the centre.
Information about current and ongoing kidney research studies at Guy’s can be found here.
