Transplant surgeon Mr Benedict Phillips would like to know what you think about the safety and feasibility of drone transport of blood and organs.
Delivery by medical drone
Mr Phillips is advising a medical drone company called Apian Ltd, started by a team of NHS doctors and the first to deliver chemotherapy by drone from the mainland to the Isle of Wight (it is difficult to store chemotherapy on the island itself).
Apian is now in talks with NHS Blood and Transplant about delivering blood and organs by drone. The aim is to speed up transport, potentially reducing cold ischaemic times between donor and recipient.
What do you think about drone delivery for blood and organs?
Mr Phillips is looking for a group of 8-10 people to give their views about this novel use of drone technology via a Zoom call.
