Depression and its influence on transplant patients
Some research being reported here about how suffering from depression significantly increases the risk of transplant failure.The sceptic in me wants to say "if someone is depressed, isn't it also more likely that they'll be doing other things which might adversely affect a transplant outcome? Forgetting to take medication, perhaps." so although the depression might be a related symptom, is it actually the cause of the increased risk of failure? (I'm not a doctor, so this is just an uneducated opinion).
